Accommodation inquiry

In 2017, Vie Val d’Is launched an inquiry into the problem of finding seasonal accommodation in relation to employers and individuals over the winter. A questionnaire was sent to professionals asking about the season 2016/2017 and 357 employers in Val d’Isère, 108 socio-pros and 52 individuals responded to this questionnaire covering a total of 2321 employees. The findings were that 60% of employers accommodate their staff, which is an less than 4 years ago when the figures were at an estimated 70%.  According to the questionairre, 262 people were unable to be housed. By extrapolation, Vie Val d’Is has estimated that the total number of people unable to be accommodated was around 500. In conclusion, 85,2% of socio-pros confirmed that the accommodation problem has indeed an impact on their recruitment and 77,8% of employers are not willing to house their staff outside Val. Only 17,6% would accept to lodge their staff in Tignes and 4,6% in Bourg St Maurice.
